I would like to introduce you to Hong Kong! Give you a little inside peek to what Hong Kong the country looks like and exactly where I am. Aren't you the littlest bit curious? :P This is also to make up for my disgraceful absence from the outside world. Hong Kong SAR is located on south coast of China with a population of around 7 million people. You would think HK is big, right? But in comparison: I am currently studying at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). We are located in Shatin (district) in the New Territories region. CUHK is the second oldest university in Hong Kong with the largest and greenest campus (because we are located on a ... mountain.. -_-) We are the only collegiate university in all of Hong Kong (there are 4 different colleges in CUHK). If you refer back to the map of HK, the HK International Airport is located on that green patch in the left lower corner. I've covered a bit with my happily written "Macau!!" It takes about 1 hr travel time to get from the airport to my school. -_- Far! The taxi fare is about $300HKD (around $38 USD) one way. As for Macau, Macau is a small island (actually, it's not that small. It's so big omg..) most known for its gambling and food. If you ever go there, try their pork chop buns, beef jerky, and Portugese egg tarts. As for gambling, there are so many casinos, it'll drive you insane. We went to a new one called The Venetian (Chris Brown performed there this weekend!) While my friends played Blackjack, I sadly only did the slot machines.. I'm a weaksauce, yes I know. I lost $20HKD HAHAha... Never play slot machines. But it was a good experience. :D There isn't really anything exciting around the New Territories. I mean, of course there are exciting things anywhere you go and lots of beautiful scenery, but people are usually focused on the main tourist areas which is at Hong Kong Island, which is what we call Central Hong Kong. My school has a special KCR stop called University on the light blue line. I circled it in bright red! Do you see me?! It's pretty convenient, except for the fact that it takes about 30-40 minutes walking time from my dorm to the KCR station. If I'm lucky enough to catch the bus, it takes about 15 minutes. Goddamn mountain! But I don't really mind the mountain. It makes you healthy... plus it's relatively safe from creepers. Nobody wants to creep around in a mountain. From the University station, you can go up the light blue line to Lo Wu station which takes you ShenZhen = China = cheap stuff and home of facials and spas and massages and manicures! :D So extremely convenient. TST (Tsim Tsa Tsui)- I circled it in orange on the KCR map; it is on the red line across from the south end of the light blue line. It's a very rich area with lots of shopping (expensive!) and food and bars and more nightlife. Shatin- I circled it in light purple on the KCR map. It's on the light blue line just 2 stops away from University. It's my favorite place which is really sad. There's a huge mall called New Town Plaza there... and I buy lots of clothes and eat lots of food. Mong Kok- I circled it in light blue on the KCR; it's on the green line. This is a good place for shopping and eating. There's lots of markets! If you want one of those babies, holla at ya girl!! ;)
